Camera

A Camera element brings a live webcam or capture device into your show — a USB webcam, a capture card, or any video input the system recognises.

Add it: Add Element → Camera…, then choose a device from the list.

Choosing a device

The picker lists every detected video input by name. If you don't choose a specific one, pick Default Camera and SwitchX lets the system decide. The list combines devices reported by the OS with any additional capture nodes found on the machine, so a capture card showing your main camera or console feed will appear here too.

What it can do

  • Stream live to either deck with low latency.
  • Transform and position on a canvas via the card's inline Transform controls — drop a presenter cam into a corner over other content.
  • Crossfade between two cameras (one on each deck) for a simple multi‑camera cut.

Tips

  • Pair a camera on one deck with a text or HTML overlay on a canvas to add names and scores over a live feed.
  • For a phone instead of a webcam, use the Phone camera element, which streams over Wi‑Fi with no cable.
