Speed and motion

Change how fast a clip plays, reverse it, fade edges, or draw a custom speed curve.

Constant speed

Select a video or audio clip → Properties → Speed & Fade:

Control	What it does
Playback speed	Rate slider / field.
Presets	Quick picks from 0.25× to 4×.
Reverse	Play the clip backwards.

Fades

Fade in and fade out controls soften the start and end. Fade style options:

Style	Feel
Linear	Constant ramp.
Smooth	Eased curve.
Natural	Gentler perceptual fade.

Custom speed curve

1. Click Custom speed… to open the Custom speed window.
2. Add points on the curve (Add point).
3. Choose Sharp or Smooth per point; delete or Reset as needed.
4. Preview, then Apply (Drift can place a copy on a new track) or Cancel.

When a custom curve is active, use Custom speed active — remove to clear it and return to constant speed.

Beat-oriented looks

For motion synced to music, try beat-oriented templates such as Beat Drop, Slowmo Drop, or Storm Drop with your soundtrack on the timeline.
